FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

We collected some common questions that folks have when checking out our studio (or any pole studio) for the first time.

Don't see your question below? Shoot us a message and we'll get back to you as soon as we can.

How do I get started?

Start by signing up and creating an account on our Wellness Living page. Fill out the form and make sure you sign the liability waiver. Once that's done, you can check out the booking options and the online store.

this is my first time trying pole!

We love beginners! We recommend starting with our Pole 101 class which will provide you with everything you need to being your pole dance journey. If you want to advance quickly, we highly recommend private lessons with our diverse group of Black Widow instructors. Different instructors have different styles and rates, so check our our instructor page to find out who is the best fit for you.

WHere are you located?

Our address is 205 Silver Ave SW Suite I, Albuquerque NM 87102. Our studio is on the 3rd St. side of the Imperial building between Gold and Silver Ave, next to Don Sushi.

There is free parking behind our building most easily accessed from 2nd St. behind Silver Street Market. There is also metered parking which is free after 6PM Mon-Sat and all day Sunday.

HOW DO I GET IN?

As a general rule, we keep our doors locked for safety and privacy. Please knock loudly and someone will let you in. We try to make an effort to contact students ahead of time if an instructor is running late.

What should I Wear?

Check class descriptions or contact your private lesson instructor for information on appropriate clothing and possibly footwear. We may ask you to wear shorts, have arms exposed, bring socks, kneepads, heels, etc. As a beginner, you get by 90% of the time with shorts and tank top.

can I bring my dog/cat/partner/mom...?

As a general rule, we do not allow pets or observers during classes with the exception of service dogs. For private lessons, please check with your instructor for permission. If someone is waiting for you, encourage them to check out some amazing small businesses in downtown while waiting for you to finish your session, or better yet, sign them up for a class!

I have an injury, chronic health issue, or am pregnant

Please tell us of any health concerns as soon as possible. Ultimately, you and your doctor have to judge whether pole dancing is right for you at this time. If you decide it is, our instructors will modify as necessary to best fit your needs.

Are you stripper/Sex Worker Friendly?

Absolutely! We are stripper-owned and love to teach strippers and have them train in our studio. If you are a stripper, please feel free to make that known if you believe it will be beneficial to your experience. If you are not a stripper, please be respectful and considerate of those working in the profession and beware of using language that is unwelcoming to strippers and sex workers.

are you political?

It depends. We are anti-racist, pro-sex work, pro-LGBTQ. We live and operate on stolen land. We take an active non-violent stance in the issues that affect us and our community. In some circles, this makes us political. More accurately, we believe in using our platform to create spaces that are safe and welcoming and to actively seek the enrichment  and flourishing of the diverse community members that support us with their business and energy.

How can I learn about updates and events happening at black widow pole arts?

We are primarily communicating through our Instagram page. Follow us @blackwidowabq to learn about our latest schedule updates, upcoming performances and workshops, and to see lots of pole dancing from our instructors and students.
